poor thing. as some of you may recall, i have been keeping an ear to the ground for reports of deep sea creatures showing up dead. it's a possible indicator that a) storms are tearing up the oceans big time, b) impacts of mining on the sea floor (they publicise the issue of 'possible oil exploration' in the news but not one word about the rare earth mining already well underway, and how much worse it is than oil drilling...gotta have those rare earth minerals for your smart phone you know...oh, at what cost!) c) breakdown of the oceanic food chain, case in point: for a second year, baby seals are stranding in record numbers with malnutrition and sea mollusks, starfish, etc. are still melting...which is a primary core level of the food chain...ocean acidification. if anyone has info on the real-time NAO and oceanic currents, please share. i am seeing a pattern emerge in terms of season, migrations, and sightings of 'rare sea monsters,' which seem to coincide with the record numbers of starving seal and sea lion pups. i'll post more current articles, research and follow-up to help you get a big picture.
"Goblin Shark - Mitsukurina owstoni
They feel comfortable living in the very deep parts of the water close to the floor of the ocean. They don't like to be exposed to the sunlight so they are sometimes referred to as vampire sharks. The numbers of them aren't even able to be estimated due to the lack of sightings of them."
